Abu Dhabi: Residents in Abu Dhabi were briefly placed on high alert on Friday morning after loud explosions were heard across the city, prompting authorities to issue a missile warning.

The UAE Ministry of Interior sent an emergency alert to mobile phones shortly after 8:15am, urging the public to immediately move to a safe place and avoid windows, doors and open areas due to a potential missile threat.

The warning came as multiple loud booms were reported in different parts of the capital, believed to be the result of air defence systems intercepting incoming aerial threats.

All-Clear Issued Shortly After

Less than half an hour later, authorities confirmed that the situation had stabilised.

In an update around 8:40am, the UAE Ministry of Interior informed residents that the situation was safe and that normal activities could resume across the emirate.

The quick alert and response highlighted the UAE’s robust emergency communication systems and defence readiness during a period of heightened regional tensions.

Minor Debris Incident in Dubai

In a related development, officials in Dubai confirmed that debris from an intercepted aerial threat caused minor damage to the facade of a building in the city.

According to the Dubai Media Office, the debris fell following a successful interception by air defence systems. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported, describing the event as a minor incident.

Rising Regional Tensions

The developments come amid escalating tensions in the Middle East linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

Gulf countries have strengthened their defence posture as missile and drone attacks continue to affect the wider region, prompting increased vigilance across key cities and infrastructure.

Rescue operations and investigations are currently underway.

Heightened Vigilance Across the Gulf

Although the alert in Abu Dhabi was brief, the incident underscores the heightened security environment across the Gulf region, as authorities continue to monitor developments closely and ensure public safety.
