Qatar all set to host the Arab Cup-a Mini FIFA World Cup

Qatar to host the draw for the FIFA Arab Cup 2021 at Katara Opera House on Tuesday, April 27at 9 PM local time. The event is limited to guests, in line with the precautionary measures to restrain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Being the first edition of the FIFA World Cup to be held in the Middle East and the Arab World, the FIFA Arab Cup is considered a critical opportunity to assess and examine Qatar’s facilities and preparations for the World Cup. The Arab Cup finals are to be held on 18 December, Qatar’s National Day.

Twenty-three Arab teams are set to participate in the tournament in six of the stadiums prepared for the World Cup, including Khalifa International Stadium, Al-Wakra Al Janoub Stadium, Education City Stadium and Al Rayyan Stadium. Other stadiums for the tournament are in the final stages of construction, according to FIFA’s official site.

Authorities will release more information about the tournament and match schedules in the coming days.

In addition to the hosting country Qatar, other participating teams hail from Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, UAE and Yemen.
