Palestinian-American supermodel Bella Hadid has once again used her global platform to spotlight Arab creativity — this time wearing a striking dress by Dubai-based Palestinian designer Reema Al Banna, founder of the label Reemami.
The look was unveiled on Instagram as part of Hadid’s campaign for her new fragrance “Eternal Roots.”
A Dress Woven with Heritage
The statement piece, known as the “Maqlouba dress,” features intricate hand-drawn motifs inspired by everyday Palestinian life — from traditional tatreez embroidery patterns to a horse and cart and even a tin of olive oil. The halter-neck silhouette, gold belt, and delicate cut-outs elevated the design into a modern yet deeply cultural ensemble.
Hadid praised Al Banna, describing her as a “brilliant, beautiful, hard-working, talented young Palestinian artist and designer.” She called the creation “a piece of art,” underlining its cultural and emotional significance.
More Than Fashion
The choice of attire was not just about style. It tied into Hadid’s fragrance message, celebrating identity and resilience. “Roots are not passive… they hold us steady through storms,” she wrote in her caption, reflecting on heritage as an anchor. Her video post also featured Palestinian singer Elyanna’s “Olive Branch,” creating a layered tribute to her community.
Reemami: From Dubai to the World
Founded in Dubai in 2009, Reemami has carved a niche for its bold prints, architectural cuts, and storytelling through hand-illustrated designs. Al Banna, originally a graphic designer, has been recognized internationally, winning the Vogue Fashion Prize in 2016 and being listed in Forbes Middle East’s “40 Women Behind Middle Eastern Brands” in 2021.
Her brand is also known for ethical production, using sustainable materials and collaborating with Palestinian women in refugee camps to preserve traditional craftsmanship.
A Moment of Cultural Pride
For the Gulf and the wider Arab world, Bella Hadid’s choice is more than a fashion statement — it’s a moment of pride. By wearing Reemami, she highlights how Dubai continues to stand as a global hub where Arab creativity meets international recognition.
