Emirates Redefines Premium Economy with World’s First Electric Privacy Seat

Dubai carrier unveils game-changing Airbus A350 cabin featuring full-height privacy screens, wireless charging and business-class inspired comfort

by Soofiya

Emirates has unveiled what it says is the world’s first fully electric Premium Economy seat featuring a full-height adjustable privacy screen, marking another major milestone in cabin innovation. The new seats will debut on newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft, offering travelers greater privacy, comfort and control throughout their journey.

A World First in Premium Economy

The centerpiece of the new design is an electrically operated privacy divider that extends to the full height of the seat, a feature Emirates says has never before been offered in a Premium Economy cabin. Passengers can raise or lower the screen at the touch of a button and lock it into position, creating a more private space for sleeping, dining or working.

The airline has also introduced fully electric seat controls, allowing travelers to adjust their seating position through an integrated Passenger Control Unit. Dedicated settings such as Lounge Mode and Meal Mode provide a more personalized onboard experience.

Spacious Cabin Designed for Comfort

The new seats will be installed in the Airbus A350’s Premium Economy cabin, configured with just 28 seats in a spacious 2-3-2 layout. Each seat measures 20 inches wide and offers up to 39 inches of pitch, providing generous legroom for long-haul travel.

Passengers can also enjoy cradle-style reclining seats that do not intrude into the space of travelers seated behind them, enhancing comfort without compromising personal space.

Enhanced Sleep and Relaxation Features

To improve inflight comfort, Emirates has incorporated its acclaimed U-Dream leather headrest by Safran Seats. The headrest features adjustable wings designed to support the head and neck, helping passengers achieve better rest during long flights.

A manually deployable leather footrest has also been added, providing additional support and helping reduce fatigue on extended journeys.

Technology Upgrades Across the Cabin

The airline is introducing wireless charging in Premium Economy for the first time, enabling passengers to keep compatible devices powered throughout the flight. Each seat will also feature USB-C charging ports and a tray table with an integrated phone holder that can function as a secondary viewing screen.

Passengers will enjoy Emirates’ award-winning ice entertainment system on a 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreen, delivering sharper visuals and a more immersive viewing experience.

New Views from the Airbus A350

Newly delivered A350 aircraft will feature additional exterior camera views from both sides of the aircraft, complementing existing forward and downward-facing cameras and allowing passengers to enjoy unique perspectives during flight.

Expanding Emirates’ Premium Economy Vision

Since launching Premium Economy in 2022, Emirates has steadily expanded the cabin across its network. The product is currently available on Airbus A350 services and is being introduced on refurbished Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft as part of the airline’s ongoing fleet modernization program.

With the introduction of the world’s first electrically powered Premium Economy seat and full-height privacy screen, Emirates continues to redefine expectations for premium travel, bringing business-class inspired features to a broader segment of passengers.
